I have the chance to buy a custom Winchester 6mm-06, but I wouldn't have the first clue as to where I could get ammo, and I know fire forming is out of the question, so now what? resize 25-06? please help!

Thanks, Thats is what I thought to, and to think I let a guy on here have about 300 peices of brass shoot shoot shoot....I hate it when that happens, Thanks Dr, and I'll be getting that rifle also from you, I love them H&R's.

Probably could make them easily from 30/06. You might have to aneal the necks first, or take it down in steps. I do 6.5 Arisaka from 308, and that's about the same job.

I was reading a March 2000 issue of precision shooting and they had an article refering to a 6 mm-284, is this .280 remington brass or what? same thing as 6mm-06 using 280 brass? I am thoroughly confused now.....help help help..... I wonder how this combo would stack up with a Weatherby .240 magnum

6mm-06 and 6mm-284 have about the same case capacity but the 284 case can be used in a short action and is more accurate. You can start with 240 Weatherby data for both of them, just back off 10% and have a good micrometer.cpermd

Before the Captain has Scotty beam a lock on this topic, there is a post by "wesman" on 9/20/2001 @ 703 pm which has now "sunk" down to page 12 and may be on page 13 by the time you see this. His post also concerns the 6mm-06. If you were to do a "wesman lets talk about 6mm-06's" post, hopefully he would see it and come on line.Perhaps he has extra brass he would be willing to let go of, and perhaps extra dies.Like they say about chicken soup - "couldn't hurt".
