I am looking for the date of manufacture of a IJ top break .38, serial number 4041. Anyone know?

    this is a second model safety automatic hammerless revolver (1896-1908). i assume the serial number quoted is on the bottom of the trigger guard, this would make manufacture after 1904 (first year serial number was marked there. the main serial number location is on the left side of the grip frame under the grip panel(grips must be removed to see). the serial number found on the left side of the grip frame is where any letter code prefix will be found and this is what i need to identify the exact year of manufacture.

    serial number R4041 was manufactured in 1906.
