1964 winchester 1894, Transition gun?

so, I've been trying to replace the finger lever pin stop screw on my 1964 winchester model 94.
I ordered from two places so far but both screws were too thin (diameter). both packages were labeled "pre 64"
the diameter of the threaded hole is 3/16"
the ser # is 27073xx
Is it possible this gun needs a "post 64" screw?
thanks
tom

The serial number on you Model 94 tells me that it is a 1964 vintage gun... and that you are wasting your time & money buying pre-64 parts.
For comparison purposes, the first picture is a "Pre-64", and the second picture is a "Post-63" (i.e. 1964 and later). Please note the location of, and the fact that the pre-64 only has four five externally mounted screws on the left side of the receiver, whereas the Post-1963 has seven screws.

Sorry, I keep counting 5 screws on that pre 64. Maybe its time for bed. [:D]

Right you are... I am the one whose eyes are getting tired[:I].
Your "3-screw" variants are the more desirable "Pre-52" 1894/94s[^]

I had no idea they were pre 63 and post 64!
I knew this was a 64 vintage but just assumed it fell into the pre64 category!
well, now that i see the pic i realized that I'm missing ANOTHER screw!
on upper back of the reciever, I'm missing the rear most of the two small screws. can anyone tell me what that one is called?
thanks again!

Hello Tom,
Not to pick nits, but you still have it backwards... it is technically "Pre-64" and "Post-63" in chronological order[;)]
The small screws on the upper left rear side are plug screws (they do nothing except fill a threaded hole). Those two holes were specifically put there so that a receiver mounted peep sight could be installed on special order, or after the fact. Typically, if a receiver peep sight was installed by Winchester, it would have been a Lyman No. 66. King and Redfield also made specific sights for the Model 94 as well.
