    Hello All,

The firing pin in my P22 is broken. I can't seem to find a place where I can buy a new one.
It is part #266 09 38. Does anyone know where I can find one?

    Thanks!

Is there any type of break in period for these or can I shoot a few hundred rounds first time out without worry.

    Thanks

Purchased a new Walther P22 about a year ago. Looked like a sweet little plinker but nothing but trouble. Gun only has approximately 100 rnds through it and while it goes into full battery and functions the fireing pin, most rounds only have a small dent in primer area without functioning the round....before I return it to Walther...any ideas (yes the gun is clean!)

I recently purchased one and noticed it has tactical rails. Just for fun I want to mount a laser or light on it. Are there any made just for the Walther???

    Thanks

I saw an interesting little gun at the gun show today. It was a Walther P22. It had the 5" barrel. It looks just like a miniature P99. I'm really interested now. Anyone have anything to say good or bad?-Marcus

I'm interested in buying a Walther P22 and depending upon which gun store I'm and which clerk is waiting on me, opinions about the gun differ widely. Some say it's VERY AMMO SPECIFIC and will only accept higher end ammo. Others say it gobbles up everything loaded into it. I really don't want to buy a .22LR plinker that needs a special or expensive diet. My other choices (alternatives) would be a Ruger MKIII or a Ruger Single Six with .22LR & .22WMRF cylinders. Can anyone give me some insight into the P22's ammo? Much appreciated.

My p22 seems to be having some issues. The firing pin isnt hitting the back of the cartridge hard enough to fire. It misfires about every other time. Ive taken it apart and cleaned and lubed everything good. But it still does it. Are their any known problems with these guns? Help!!!!

I bought a Walther p22 a couple of years ago. I love the feel and the look. But, Ive had nothing but problems with it. It is very * about what ammo it will shoot. It will go through the first 10rd clip perfect. Then, it will only shoot about every other round. If you pull back the hammer and fire again on the same bullet. It will fire. I have taken apart, polished, properly lubed everything 10 times over. Any help would be appreciated. I dont really want to give it up. But a gun that isnt reliable, isnt worth having. Thanks

How accurate is a Walther p22?? Would this be a good purchase to plink with and possible conceal and carry, or would I get more BANG for my buck with something else??

    Hello All,

I would like to know if I can lessen the trigger pull. If so, how would I go about doing it?
Is there another trigger group I could buy, etc.

    Thanks!

I have one and it is fun to shoot. But it is small and will be less accurate than a "big" 22 like a Ruger Mark II or III for example. But those are not concealable to the extent the Walther is.

Just about everybody here will say the 22 is FAR too little to use as a defense gun. 380 is the minimum. A 22 will eventually kill an attacker, but he will have time to stab you first.

The p22's are attractive guns but tend to be ammo sensitive and may only function with a few types. They also have alloy parts including the slide that can fail with low round counts. My p22 cracked the slide with only 1600 rounds through it and Walther didn't stand behind it. A Ruger Mark II with adjustable sights makes for a great plinking or small game pistol, they last forever and are not as ammo sensitive.

I was all set to get one a while back, till I found out that some of the internal parts are made of zinc die castings. Although a lot of folks swear by the P 22, as a reliable/durable pistol. The zinc/potmetal internal parts, didn't set to well with me. So I passed on getting one.

How does the Walther compare with the SIG Mosquito?

The SIG is too ammo sensitive as far as reliability goes. If you are looking for a good conceal gun the 22lr is not a good selection as you can pump a full mag into a bad guy and not drop him before he kills you

Its a rimmed cartridge which is not prone to reliability

Look into a 32acp or 380acp from Bersa/Firestorm. Walther also has the PK380 out know which is set up like a P22 but slightly bigger in a much better defense caliber.

For a concealable defense pistol, Ruger has both LCP (Little compact pistol) in .380 and the LCR (Little compact revolver) in .38 that would make far better choices. A Ruger, Browning, Beretta or S&W would be better choices for plinking .22lr.

Coincidentally, I bought a P22 last week. I have both the 3.4" and 5" barrels. I have not fired the pistol with the 5" barrel yet

Here is how I shot on my first outing, with a pistol that I was very unfamiliar with, with a very short barrel. I have only put 100 rounds through it. This is not the best shooting in the world but that barrel is short. This is at 33 feet.

    p22range.jpg

I have no doubt that by 200 or 300 rounds I will be putting them all in the ten ring at that range, with the 3.4" barrel. I was shooting CCI minimags. 100 clean feeds, no misfires, jams, etc. I think it stands to reason that most any 22 auto pistol may be picky about ammo

The P22 is not the best or most accurate 22 out there by any means. But it is fun and attractive, and, depending on what you want in the pistol, it may be right for you

I would not suggest carrying a rimfire for a carry pistol. if you like the P22's size and handling, then check out the Walther PK380

It fires a .380 ACP round and is only a touch larger than the P22. Looks almost identical, as well. Walther has not released them yet I think, but they list them at the same price as the P22

    Oh- everyone-

If you have a P22 that breaks, don't try to make Walther stand behind it. Contact Smith and Wesson. They are the Walther distributor in the USA

Take a look at the Kel-Tec line. I have a .32 & single stack 9mm and love them. They also have a .380.

My wife likes hers. It is somewhat particular regarding ammo, but when you find the round it likes, it is reliable, though we have not found a round that will go 100 straight without a failure to feed at some point.

It is, IMO, not a carry piece. In addition to the obvious failure to feed issue, the mag release is very easy to actuate inadvertently, and if you have large mitts, you will find yourself dropping mags even while just firing, unless you fingertip the trigger.

We have no real complaints about the pistol. It has seen probably 2,500 rounds without any appreciable wear or mechanical problems, but would probably have gone with a Ruger MKIII4 knowing what we know.
