Am thinking of getting one of the new Sig Mosquito's. Wanted anyone's opinion on what type of ammo I should start with. Dont want to go have to go through 5-6 different types/brands. Any help or info would be appreciated. thanks!

Is that not half the fun...finding which one shoots the best. Most guns are individuals, where the same make and model and next serial number might prefer something different. besides 22's are inexpensive, and fun.

Ok, should I then ask....is there anything that I'd be wasting my time shooting? I know they are inexpensive but just wanted to narrow down my search of ammo to get started.

For the Mosquito....anything with DEET. (yes I know, lame, I just had to)

There are many posts on this, give a search and you will get a great start.....but you will still have to go though all the ammo yourself.

    But, as you requested.

(-) I always have the Remington 'green box' stuff around because it is cheap, but it usually gets cut out early.

(+) Wolf "target or extra" grade usually makes it near the top.

I wouldn't be wanting to save the time really, I love to shoot.
BUT, if you did want to save time, buy the premium target grades only. You will likely find a good round, but you may miss one that does about as well for 1/4 the price.

    ENJOY !

realistically, if you can find the federal bulk box of 550 38grain copper plated hollowpoints, i have had extremely good luck with these in everything. Wal-mart used to have them for $8.88 10 years ago. They are the most accurate, and reliable in several automatics i have including a HighStandard 101, Browning Buckmark Varmint, and a Walther P22

I've had good luck with the bulk pack Remington Golden Bullet H-P's and the Federal H-P's fom WalMart. The Remington's are "Hotter" and are more positive in function, in guns that require hot loads to function, or are gunked up with crud.

CCI Mini Mags are really excellent stuff, better even then the above Remingtons and Federals, lot more pricey to.

I've had functioning problems with Winchester Dniapoints in the past, because they are only loaded to low/standard velocity. This causes problems in some semiautos. Stay away from Remington Thunderbolts and PMC ( Aguila ) Sidewinders, didn't care for them at all.

In a target/plinking type pistol of this lower range, I would start with Remington subsonic. I have had the best luck all around with everything I own from 10/22's, to my Stevens 44 Ladies to the 'ol Buckmark that gets a few thousand through it every year. Not as expensive as Eley Tenax and it works better in EVERYTHING I own than that really spendy stuff.

Guys-thanks for the info. I know there is alot out there and now you've given me even more to think about. Guess I will just end up buying 5-6 different boxes and then doing "alot more" shooting that I thought I would. Oh well, thats why I'm buying the gun.
