Anyone out there use any of th4e new Accutip 3" mag slugs this season? I shot two deer, doe and a buck with them. The doe ran over 150 yards with a hole through the heart and the buck was shot right in the center of the left shoulder at 99 yards, never to be seen again. The entrance hole in the doe was the same as the exit hol, no expanson. Just wondering if anyone els had this proble, They were like shooting a FMJ rifle bullet, no expanson and transfer of energy.

Just goes to show, newfangled and expensive is not always better than the old style, basic slug. The ammo makers have to come up with new things every season to tempt hunters, but the stuff they come up with is not always a step in the right direction.

I used the Rem. Accutip 3" also this year and also shot a doe and a buck. The buck I shot at 40-45 yards and the hole in was small but the hole out was the size of a beer can. It did try to run and got about 10 yards and dropped dead. The doe I head shot at 85 yards and the hole in was as small as the hole out. She break danced for about 15 minutes but her brains were scrambled so I don't know what was going on. I am thinking that maybe the slug picks up so much velocity on far shots and wastes it energy prior to hitting the deer. Can't find anything on the web related. I did like the way they shot, very straight. I sighted in my gun with 6 different slugs and the Accutips shot the straightest. DO NOT USE!!!! The remington Copper Solids. The slugs were zinging everywhere but the target. I also liked the Winchester SX something or other. Althought at 60+ yards they dropped about 6-12 inches. So, I stuck with the Accutips. When I sighted my gun in I got 1 shot at 140 yards within 3 inches of the X on my target. That is amazing to me. Good Luck in the future.
