Any knowledgable AR gunsmiths out there? If one wants to build a bull barrel varmint upper what brand of barrel and what twist would be best? Mostly want to shot 50 grainers. On one of my past projects I had a 24" HBAR (not bull) from model 1 sales that was 1/9 and would shoot 3/4 100 yard groups all day long. Would 1/12 be a better choice for the light bullets? A lot of places are making barrels but who makes the best barrels for the money?
Thanks

However, if you are shooting longer range, the 1 in 9 might not be bad as you can shoot heavier bullets that will keep more energy at range.
John Krieger makes the top-of-the-line AR barrels and they're cut rifled so they're a little tougher or slightly harder than the button barrels.

While the 1:12" twist will work with the 50 grain bullets, I prefer the 1:9" so I can shoot some of the longer (heavier) bullets.
Best.
