A bud is selling a winchester 1200 shotgun in 12G, are they any good ? & what are the parts availability ? thanks guys.

    They are OK, not great. They were a post 1964 Winchester design, which means they were more interested in cost instead of quality when they started churning them out. I have one as a backup hunting gun, and the one nice thing about it is that it has inertia assisted opening so the gun pumps very very fast.

    If you are a high volume shooter, I would recommend a Mossberg 500, Remington 870, Browning BPS, or Ithaca 37 as a more durable alternative.

    The 1200 has been out of production for over 20 years, when the 1300 was introduced. Many parts interchange between the two, but when the Winchester plant was shut down in 2004, the 1300 was discontinued. It is back in production as their Speed Pump, but it looks as if there were minor changes.

    hello. they are good guns, they are the predacessor to the win 1300. basically the same gun. i know some parts will interchange with the 1300, but i dont think all will. i wouldnt pay over 125.00 for a used one, unless its the high cap model..
