Hi, I have stumbled upon the following gun and am trying to find out how much I could potentially sell it for. Also, I was wondering what you would suggest be the easiest and best way to go about selling something like this.

Hello Wait for Bert H ,KIMI and others that really know but it looks to me as someone most likely tried to clean and make this rifle LOOK GOOD and in doing so most likely cut the Value by 1/3 if not more[V][xx(][:(] It does not look like a hundred year old rifle. SHOULD look . still may be worth $$$ and selling on this site with NO reserve and low starting price will get you the most bidders and the highest price.

It is sad that some unknowing person aggressively cleaned and polished the bronze frame and butt plate. As it is now, it is worth about $4500. If it had been left alone and not cleaned and polished, it would have been at least a $14,000 highly desirable collector gun.

Wow! Looks re-blued also! And the tang area shows evidence of stock refinishing.

Collectors look for finish. Original finish. This one has zero, sorry to say. Looking at that "pretty" rifle breaks my heart. Best, Joe

Sadly, this is a perfect example of how refinishing or polishing a rare antique can seriously affect collector value.
