I have a S&W Model 31 X blue, .32 S&W Long, 4" barrel, w/fixed sights and wood grips. The firearm's finish and condition is 95% +, I have the original box and manual.
Does anyone know what the "X" denotes?
Trying to find out if the "X" adds any additional value to the firearm.
Thanks in advance

Please explain why you believe that your gun is a "Model 31X". Something on the gun? The box? A S&W catalog?
Neal
From it's original box.
Model No.: 31-X, Fin: B, Barrel: 4, Stock: R, TH: blank, TT: blank, Ins: W, PKR: 5 or S, Special Features: blank, Serial No.: H87XXX Front Sight: 2, WD: Blank
Everything was handwritten in black ink except for the "2" in the Front Sight: filed, it was wriiten in black marker.
Thanks
The X on the box could have been written by the packer, the checker, the distributor, the retailer, or a previous owner. It doesn't mean anything.

Is there anyway to find out how old it is?
