1924 Mexican Mauser 7x57 info

I am in the process of having this shipped to me. I am trying to figure out if it was a calvary carbine maybe and someone shortened the stock ? It is a small ring 7x57 cal

    One of untold thousands of surplus rifles cheaply sporterized pre- GCA 1968.
    Has real scope mount and bent bolt handle, better than usual.

    Might have been a carbine before it was chopped. Doubt anybody will care at this late date.

    Never a carbine. Rifle sized rear sight.

    Rear sight is correct for the Carbine.
    Stock has been reworks to straight configuration
    Barrels on most of these will be in the 15 1/2 inch range.

    I agree with the correct open sights, and a short barrel..As Hawk said,shooter only..And FYI, that's a Large Ring action..

    I'm betting it has a large chamber for use with current 7x57 brass.

    I had a Dutch Police carbine years ago. It had a 18" barrel. Had a horrendous muzzle blast, even when wearing earmuffs. Couldn't get rid of it, quick enough. I couldn't imagine how bad the muzzle blast and fireball, from a 15 1/2" barrel would be.
