    I do not recall a .40AE. I only recall a .41AE, which was a great idea that was killed by the introduction of the .40S&W. The .41AE was designed to be a simple conversion for 9x19 pistols by only a barrel change. That was possible because the cartridge had a rebated rim the same diameter and rim thickness as a 9x19.Timing is everything.

    The .41 action express loads to the same basic specs as .40sw, but operates at lower pressures due to larger case volume. Offers similar performance with a slightly larger(.410) bullet. Noticeably smoother shooter than .40sw, but a victim of the times.
