am striking out with e-mail request to churchill gunmakers in england. they replied that they were sorry but did not make the rifle, that it was made by interarms. i informed them that to my knowledge, interarms was an importer not an manufacturer. also informed them of the stamp on barrel (made in england) and the proof marks all relate to england. do you know of anyone i can contact that could give me some history on this firearm. they would have to have access to information about england manufactures, in particular... Churchill (gunmakers) around 1973 i believe.thanks

I am way out of my element when it comes to rifles - unless they are black powder. However, I am willing to bet you a breakfast at Hardee's that you got in touch with E. J. Churchill, LTD of Surry, England (formerly in London). In which case they quickly told you they did not make the rifle, and they didn't. If you should run across an E.J. Churchill, LTD. shotgun in any gauge, most particularily 28, that someone wants to sell for $1400, please let me know. I will probably break my neck going down the steps on the way to the bank to get a signature loan so I can buy it.There is Churchill, then there is "Churchill", then there is "Churchill", and there is also "Churchill". THE Churchill is the one in Surry, England. There are also "Churchill's" that were made in Spain and Italy and imported by Ellet Brother,Inc., Chapin, South Carolina, and Kassnar Imports, Inc., Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Then there is Churchill Gunmakers, located in High Wycombe, England which is the one you want. They made the "One of One Thousand Rifles" for Interarms 20th Anniversary. The rifle is listed on page 374, 21st Edition, Blue Book of Gun Values. It is also listed on page 220 of the 20th Edition of the Gun Trader's Guide.I hope that this is the information that you need.
