On the lower, there is a lever at the front cap that is found on the right side between the barrel and the wood. Flip that lever 180 degrees to the front, towards the muzzle. Then the cap will slide forward on the barrel. Sometimes it will need a tap or two. The upper wood on the gas tube is removed by holding the wood and rotating the tube 180 degrees. I have found that the easiest way is to rotate the tube by holding on to it with a pair of channel lock pliers, set-up for the width of the tube where it goes into the sight housing. It is flat on either side. (Do not grab the tube at the muzzle end!) Rotate the 180 degrees and pull the wood away from the gas tube.
