Has any one fond a way to put a decent heat shield in this rifle? or maybe an add on grip under the fore arm? Any help would be appreciated.

In looking at mine, the main cooling problem is the restricted airflow, with the only vents being in the top of the hand guard and front of the hand guard on either side of the barrel. Due to their design/construction, the only viable solution would be to add a forward grip by removing the front swing swivel and use that existing mount. However I believe adding a forward grip would be in violation of the BTAF definition of an assault rifle.I don't see any way to add a shield inside the hand guard without removing the barrel retaining bolt under the pistol grip and then there is only about 1/4"between the barrel and the hand guard. As I understand it the barrels tension in the hand guard is critical to its accuracy so this isn't something you would want to mess with.

I had one guy add a sleeve to the outside. It was originally a stock sleeve, some type of neoprene. We cut holes in the top to let the heat out. It seamed to help anyway. Kind of like a nomex cover on a suppressor.
