"This is the first time I've used this so I hope I'm doing it right so here's go's, I have a double barrel shotgun that I am trying to find out what year it is and who mfg. it. My mom bought it for my dad in the early 60's as far as i was told, she also said she ordered it from Spain. The only thing on the gun that I can find to identifying it is " Madison Import Corp ", also " 47147 cal. 410 76 ", also " 15 ", also " 850 kgs ", also " Toreador 410 ga magnum SPAIN ". I've been looking around the net but have had no luck so if anyone has any ideas where to look or know anything about this gun please let me know. I'm also wanting to find out what it might be worth if anything, Thanks, you can reach me at Crazyguy9977@yahoo.com"

need help identifying a shotgun. it is an italian made with the italian proof marks on it. it is a side by side double barrel 12 gauge shotgun. with two external hammers on top and double triggers. identification marks located on it beside the italian proof marks are: on top of the barrels in the middle is the name MI-VAL gardone vt. on top of both barrels it says (alloy chromium compressed steel special type titania). on the inside of the chambers is a capital M with a small v inside a square. beneath the barrels there is 3 stars on one and one star on the other. there are the roman numerals of XXIII located on the silver plate underneath the barrels. there is a number 43 in the middle on the bottom of the barrels. on the inside of the chamber is the number 863. it has silver engraving on it. it has a picture of one bird possibly a quail on one side and a grouse on the other side. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. I am not sure from your description, if the shotgun has external hammers, two triggers, or both. The things I can tell you, it that the shotgun is Italian made, it does NOT have Damascus twist barrels (a good thing), the proof house is Gardone, the PSF is the definitive proof for firearms with smokeless powder, and the FINITO is the finish proof for firearms ready for sale.

One other thing:The XXIII means that the shotgun was made in 1967.The same company that publishes the "Blue Book of Gun Values" which is Blue Book Publications, Inc. will do an appraisal, but it will cost you some money. Not bad - less than $35 and will take a month to six weeks. If you really wish to know who made your shotgun and its approximate value it could well be the best time and money you have ever spent.Best of luck to you. When you find out exactly what you have, please come back and post to all of us. We would be very interested to know and to add to our reference materials.
