Is there any collection value in S&W ammo? This ammo is in the white and blue boxes.Thanks in advance.

rsnyder55 - the truthful answer is 'it depends.' If the box(es) are mint or close to it & full of the correct ammo, they are worth somewhat more than current production by most mfgs, although not as much as the over-hyped 'killer' Black Talon which is not being released to the public. Based on actual auction results, $20-$25/bx. If you don't want to hang onto them as an investment, try a trade w/ a dealer. Or shoot 'em off - that will make mine more valuable in 2050 .dano - my respect for your eloquence aside, the 'how much' depends entirely on the hands that hold them. Generally, as a buyer, they're worthless; as a seller, they're solid gold. Or you can reference the above. The handgun ammo is not bringing a big premium yet; they made more of that than other calibers. .22 RF & shotshells are worth roughly 2X current retail - assuming you have customers for it; if you do not, I would suggest you not invest. Collectible ammo is a thin & quirky market; it doesn't take much to saturate it for a particular loading.

Iconoclast, sorry for the delay, but I wanted to thank you for your information.I purchased several boxes of it in 1979 when I had first purchased a Python and it kept locking the cylinder. The boxes are mint.I hope to make it to 2050.....

rsnyder -If you want something that doesn't lock the cylinder and want to quote me a price, it's possible we could work a deal. Presently it's being offered for that $20-$25 price, but I don't see it selling on line (9 listings, no sales, last 12 months). I've seen a few that sold at shows, one at a laughably high price by one of Barnum's grandchildren.
