The Ranger SXT is the Black-Talon renamed. They changed the name when they pulled it off the civilian market. It was a voluntary move by Winchester. There is no law making it illegal to own by a civilian, but most shops won't sell it to you.Regards,BigTex[This message has been edited by BigTex (edited 10-22-2001).]

I think Tex meant "no" law against.I sell them at times, but there is no special reason to shoot them.cpermd

I carried them in my duty weapon for a time. After an Officer in a neighboring jurisdiction had to shoot a bad-guy, it was shown that the SXT over-penetrated and did not expand, so I switched to Cor-Bon.Regards,BigTex

Thanks for your responses. I carry Corbon myself. I heard of the name black talon, but was not around guns long enough to know what type of bullets they were and why they were pulled off the shelf and why they even mention that only l.e. can use it. Other than the black coating, it does not look too much different than any other HP out there.Just being curious. Thanks again, GD
