I see tapco selling the 40 round ak mags. I was wondering if anyone has had anything good to say about them. Should I buy some or stick with the 30's?

Ther's nothing wrong with the 40's, they are just longer and take more ammo to fill. They are less common, but not necessarily rare or anything. The 30's are common, cheap, and reliable. The 40's are less common, not as cheap, and just as reliable. It is your call, but 2-30's can usually be had for the cost of 1-40 (60rds vs. 40rds)

i would go with the 30s....most of the 40s nowadays are actually a couple 30s welded together or something like that.....if you can find TRUE 40s, they might be worth having over the 30s.

I have seen two 30's welded together, but those end up being a 75 rounder. They were made by Triple K in CA. There is still lots of actual, original 40's out there. There are Chinese ones as well as European ones available.
