California hi-cap mag question

I know mags that are over 10 rounds are illegal in our communist state of California, but what if, say a 30 round 9mm MP5 stick mag were blocked (like with a wooden dowel) so that it would only accept 9 or 10 rounds ... would it be legal to ship them there?

Kimberkid, If you ship the parts in here to Ca. you are putting yourself and the shippng party in jeopardy of the law. Go to the Reno gun show or Las Vegas gun show but it is still illegal in this sorry State.

It is legal to take a lawfully possessed "large capacity" magazine out of the state and to return to the state with the same magazine. See the California Dangerous Weapons Control Law, Section 12020(b)(23).

SaxonPig, They can't prove you bought after the ban unless they have a witness that saw you buy that particular magazine. The law is basically unenforceable.

Yes EOD your right. I travel to AZ on vacation and always take my stuff with me. I called to be sure and it is legal. If a person did happen to be searched returning to the state with hi caps I would imagine it wouldn't be a big deal if he had the rifle the mags went to with him. Prove you owned the rifle before you left and let them prove you didn't own the mags. Guy just taking some target practice in the desrt of a state that doesn't sell out it's citizens. No crime in that.
