I have a wwII firearm that has rust on it. There is an applicant that'll make rust disappear. From Texas, any help?

In moving guns hidden from all over the house to my new gun safe, I found a couple with light rust on the barrel. What is the expert opinion for removing this? Does this mean that I will have to re-blue?Thanks guys,Jeff

I found rust on my colt cowboy on the case harndened areas. I cleaned it and oiled. Is there anything else I can do. Is this something a gunsmith can fixed or do I need to send it to Colt. Thank You.

Yes there is.Apply Break Free liberally.Wait five minutes and then apply a massive amount of elbow grease on a brass or copper brush. The blueing will not be affected but it will remove the rust down to the level of the finish. We must remind ourselves that blueing is a rust-like treatment that dyes the metal, rather than covers it.Be sure that the brush is all copper or brass, not plated steel or stainsless.gutshot.keep your powder dry,but not hot..

Try bronze wool. "000" grade works well for me. You can almost not even tell it has been used on nice blue areas. Penetrating oils are good for rust removal but not for storage. they rot wood stocks and often have paraphin wax in them which gums up the action in cold weather.

RB-17, Houston, Tx. 800-721-7462. Try rb-17 on your search engine and their web site address will be on the first 3 items.

oneshy is correct. RB-17 is special for rust removel. I have used it for a long number of years on blue as well as parkerized finishes with very good results.
