Any thoughts on this A2 configuration?

Thought the extended sight radius would be the compromise in a 20 or 16 inch barrel. Any thoughts good or bad?

Thanks!

Nice looking AR. I never cared for the full-length forearms with the 16" barrel. I suspect the longer sight length may turn out better accuracy if you plan to only use stock sights. If you are to mount a scope or red-dot - then it should matter.

I had one, liked it. Mine used the shorter gas system though. The "real" gas block was located under the forend, the one up front was just for show. I found the gun to be reliable and handle well, I liked having the longer forend.

As an aside, I think DPMS is backordered by about 170,000 units. Ouch!

Most places call it "the Dissapator"

bushmaster called them the dissapator,i had one,the longer sight radius was more accurate with irons, mine also had the carbine length gas system, with an A2 rifle buffer system,it took about 350 rds to break in and shoot reliably, after that i never had any problems at all.what i didnt like was being stuck with that configuration.the A2 reciever, double gas block set up wasnt easily changed around or accessorized, and with a handle mounted scope and 30rd mag it was very"tall".

So the gas block isn't at the end of the barrel? Ok, gentlemen that may change my opinion on this little guy. Thought it was a 20 incher cut down to 16 and thats it. Didn't want the short gas system but didn't like the length.

as far as the gas system, you might want to ask them,i believe some were made with the carbine length(real gas block under the handgaurd)and others were not.mine was an early model, first or second year things might have changed.
