how can i idenifty the correct bayonet for a colt 1863 civil war musket ? I see bayonets for sale but not when i have a rifle with me or they or they are on the web Thanks Steve

    It should be A standard 58 cal bayonet 1863 colt is the same as a 1863 Springfield.The Colt is just A contract gun.It should be 21 inchs long7/8 across the lug side and have A locking ring on the lug. Lug -Part that fits over the barrell.Most have US stamped in the base of the blade part of it.E-bay item 290296881942 is what you want good luck
