just got a supernova 12 gauge and find that it only holds two shells in the tube plus one in the chamber. Want to remove the limiting plug. Looks like I might need a special wrench but I'd like some advice before proceeding. Anybody familiar and got a minute?

The mag spring retainer has 2 holes in it for a pair of snap ring pliers to compress and remove it. The quick and easy way is to take a flat bladed screwdriver, working it around the inner circle (hole) of the retainer. Slightly prying up on the outer edge. Be careful though because it's under spring tension and you can launch it across the room. Keep your free hand over it.
