Glass bedding scope base

I'm thinking about glass bedding a one peice base on a single shot shotgun. I really dont want to drill and tap this gun if I don't need to. I was going to use acraglas glass bedding. Has anyone ever done this, and what was used to mount the base if other than acraglass?

I have to say I wouldn't recommend it. I've epoxied a front sight on a muzzle loader where it stayed for several seasons but then it fell off one cold morning as I was heading out the garage door for the tree stand.
The heavier the sight (you're thinking of a scope, yes?) and the heavier the recoil (is this a .410? 20, 12?) the greater the likelihood that epoxy along won't do the job.
Drill a couple of holes and screw it down!

I use alot of Acraglass and it is tough stuff no doubt - a drop or two forgotten on a receiver screw during bedding takes quite the leverage to work lose. But as a glue on a fairly smooth surface, I think that whole "body at rest tends to stay at rest" and "a body in motion tends to stay in motion" is going to get you.
Epoxy, resin, & fiber glass are all plastic (even JB Weld). The thermal expansion rate of plastic is 5 times or more greater than the rate of steel. The expansion rate difference WILL break it loose.
If you use a steel base, It should be a simple matter to solder it to the barrel.

If I were to do this it would be with a Brownells product, but it would not be Acraglass. It would be their steel bed. It is an epoxy that is 72% atomized stainless steel. If will not sugar and crumble either like the glass filled stuff. In my shop, I do not even use the Acra glass anymore, just the SteelBed. I use it alot to bed not only actions, but scope bases to the reciever too.

It sure as heck wont keep a base on with out using the screws to hold it down, it will put a dent in your head sooner or later..
Soft soldering the base on is your best bet..... Force 44 comes to mind.....
