Are there any advantages of the 798 Mauser action over a comparably priced 700? Accuracy issues? Any opinion appreciated. Thanks.

Well the 798 guns are made by Zastava of Serbia. SO if you are a buy American guy, that can be an issue.

A Remington 700 will always be as or most likely more accurate.

However, the Mauser action is smoother and gives more reliable feeding. I prefer the controlled round feeding that a large Mauser type action provides, however, I would recommend the CZ550 as a better Mauser type rifle. They are nicer guns IMHO and more accurate than the Serbian Mausers. However the Serbian Mausers are built on the FN Belgian pattern.
