I am wanting to purchase a T/C Pistol in the 44cal to start off with, but don't know if I should get the G2, Pro Hunter or the Encore model. I am wanting it for hunting but will also get some other barrels for target shooting as well. I don't know were to go. Please help.

The Contender is no slouch and will handle 223, 30.30, 35 Remington and 45/70 to name a few pretty good cartridges. But the Encore will handle the 22.250, 25.06, 350 Rem Mag, 375 H & H and 405 Winchester and more.
The Contender and the Encore are the only two different frames made by T/C 0 the Pro Hunter is simply a version of ..... I'm going to guess the Encore, not 100% certain though.
Barrels for the Contender fit the Contender only (new model and old) and barrels for the Encore fit the Encore only. There are quite a few custom barrel makers - MGM, Bulberry, OTT and T/C's in house Foxridge. Used barrels are generally from $125.00 (good deal) to about $200.00. When you get a barrel you'll have to decide whether or not to scope the thing, I'd say most barrels get scoped. Stick with good brand name scopes. If you think a 30.06 rifle can jar a scope, it's nothing compared to the recoil of a 15" barreled 375 H & H Encore handgun. Burris, Weaver, Leupold, T/C are pretty good bets.
You may want to take a cruise through the auctions, that always helps me check out & become familiar with newer stuff.
