When I made note in the other thread about Madis' The Winchester Handbook it was in realtion to a good Winchester book that covers a lot of different Winchesters, and not any one particular book that covered just a small portion of models like the single shot variety. So, here again, if there is a Winchester reference book available to the public that covers as many models with the detail that Madis' The Winchester Handbook offers, then I'd really like for you to share this with those of us in the market for such a publication.
Bert, books like Madis' The Winchester Handbook is a superb publication, but it seems like you do not want to recognize this piece of work as being a fine source for most all Winchester models ever produced, that's fine by me. I might add that I have a superb collection of reference books, but sadly they are most all packed away and have been for a long time now which is why I asked you questions about the 67. Also, most people do not own a firearm library, and this is where Madis' has made such a big hit with the public in that he has two books that the typical Winchester fan can afford that answers most any question they might have about any Winchester. I'm still on the lookout for any comparable publication.

Thanks in advance Rick
Thank you

Winchester manufactured the Model 20 for just a scant 6-year period of time (1919 - 1924), with a total production of just 23,616 guns, many of which were sold overseas (Australia). In the many years that I have been collecting, handling, and looking at Winchester firearms, I have seen exactly TWO of them[:0]. To the best of my knowledge, there is unfortunately no available parts source for the Model 20. If you can find a complete gun, you might seriously consider buying it, then have the parts copied & and reproduced.

THANKS BERT... I HOPE SOMEONE READS THIS AND HAS SOME PARTS. I KNOW IT WILL BE HARD TO FIND BUT THE MODEL 20 I HAVE IS PRETTY NICE AND I WOULD LIKE TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER. PROBABLY THE ONLY ONE I WILL EVER SEE
You are quite welcome. Good luck on finding the parts and rebuilding it.

You can try:
Buckingham's Guns
501 Eaton-Brazil Road
Trenton, TN. 38382
Ph 901-559-4169.
I have never had any luck making contact with him, but I have talked to people that know him personally and they say he has tons of old Winchester parts. They also say he is a royal pain in the but to deal with. I don't even know if he is still in business.

I just checked one of Madis's books. In reference to the Model 20, he says that, and I paraphrase, Winchester didn't go to the expense of designing a new gun, but followed the design and pattern of over a dozen other manufacturers. If this is indeed true, it may be possible to fit a forend from a different maker to your shotgun. How you accomplish this is a project on its own. I would start by looking at 410 single shot shotguns on GB and see if they look anything like your Model 20. Having never seen on, I have no suggestions. Any good gunsmith sho;d be able to make a firing pin.

Though there is much veracity in what you say Bert, Taperloc was asking you to eschew obfuscation.[}:)][:p]
