I have a lot of gun cleaning kits laying around the house and i have a bunch of those wool and cotton bore mops. but for some reason i cant get them to go down the barrel of any of my guns! Lets say i want to clean my .20GA i will grab the .20GA mop attachment and it wont fit down the barrel! same with all the other cailbers. am i doing something wrong or is there a trick to it? (just so you know the way i clean my gun is use the copper brush to knock loose the debreis and then the bore solvet with a cotton patch followed by a light coating of rem oil with a cotton patch! What are the mops used for anyway! soak up moisture????Does anyone else have this problem[?]

The instructions in the last kit I bought say to use the mop to apply a light coat of oil in the bore.Which makes them kind of pointless when a patch can do the same thing.I have been using mine this way.It seems to leave a thiner coating of oil because of the tight fit.a light spray of rem oil on the mop only.
Never had any problem as long as using the proper size. A patch will work also, just not as complete as the mop.
That being said, you may wish to use a "snake". I use bore cleaner prior to the brass, then dry, then Clensoil near the end, for a quick clean method. (I am not saying this is the best method, just for a quick clean at the range and back in the box for next week)
