My uncle recently purchased one of these at a gun show. Problem is that it won't eject case (extracts ok, just won't kick it out). Also, the slide won't lock back on empty magazine. Have searched around looking for some info, but doesn't seem to much tech info. Can't even find a decent IPB. Any ideas? Links to some good tech info?

If you are saying you cant even lock the slide back by hand then it sounds like the slide is binding on something at the end of it's cycle Or some DUMBA** put in some kind of recoil buffer. If it wont eject this might be the same item causing the trouble or bent recoil spring or aftermarket too heavy recoil spring or LIMP WRIST shooter.

edit no insult intended on the limp wrist comment . i did not intend this to be a shout but rather to call attention to the fact that many pocket pistol problems come from this cause. that and the fact that many people that don't know how to take a pistol apart and watch details put it back together incorrectly and many people think they can improve a design by adding do dad parts like recoil buffers. It seems like you are not in that group. Sorry about the comment. i suggest in the future that you state the fact of what you have tried as to trouble shooting so we as responders will not duplicate your efforts with the most common causes of this type of failure to function. notice i did not capitalize an letters in this edit as i did not want to shout i guess i need to learn protocol on internet messages.

Was doing this from new in box... as new as these can be based on what I've been able to find out so far.
Guess I should have clarified this to start with - I'm an NRA instructor, CWP instructor for SC, and regular competitor, so limp wristing is not the problem. I also do some light smithing, so I pretty much know what obvious problems to look for. Was looking for some links to possible sites, or anyone who has one that might shed some light. The LIMP WRIST comment (in caps, usually indicating shouting) was, sorry to say, uncalled for - not everybody out here is a rookie... but please excuse me if I mis-interpreted your post.

hello. first off, you should thoughly clean and lubricate the gun. i never shoot any gun i buy, new or used without completely taking it apart and cleaning it. even when a gun is new, the oil they use is basically shipping oil to keep it from rusting. who knows how long a gun will sit collecting dust before its sold. ive owned quite a few fegs in different calibers, and all worked great. try this first and then see how it shoots. make sure to clean out the barrel also.

My WAG without actually having the pistol apart in front of me, is that their is problem with the recoil spring. Is it possible that it hasn't been installed correctly or possibly binding? Some springs have a smaller diameter on one end that have to installed toward the breech end of the barrel. Also is there any possibility that the wrong spring was furnished with the pistol? Some of the folks who sell stuff at the shows aren't particularly ethical, and don't know didlly about the functioning of firearms.

Another possibly is the problem might be ammo related. The FEG'S were made in .380 as well as 9 X 18. U.S. made .380 ammo fired in a 9 X 18 Makarov chambered pistol, might cause the problems you describe.

None of these are new.....the PA63 is surplus.

I have one, the mags do not operate the slide lock very well. A smith could tweak it to make it work better, or stronger mag springs might help hold it open better.

As for the improper ejection, it could be a recoil spring that is not right or the gun is dirty.

When I got mine, it was in almost like new shape. I swapped out the recoil spring with a Wolff spring(the ones for Makarovs work)

Remove the slide...check on the left side of the frame next to barrel hood - there should be a part that pivots and is a combination slide hold open and ejector. This part is held in place by a small V spring and easily falls off of the firearms during cleaning. If it is not there, you need one - if it is there, check to see that the hold open/ejector tab is not worn off or broken off.

Many PA63s are new. They may not have been made yesterday but many were unissued and simply sold from years in storage. They are new.

That said, many PA63s have trouble with steel cased ammo... try S&B or some other brand Makarov ammo with a brass case. I think you may see reliable function.

Mine had a broken ejector/slide lock. Could be your problem too.

Mine also has a rather tight chamber. I need to polish it out a bit with some fine sand paper or emery paper one of these days.
