AR-15 short barrel.

I wanted to know what the legal lenth is for an AR-15. and why. and does a Muzzle Brakes & Flash Supressors count as lenth.

    The legal length for ANY rifle is 16". This is properly measured by closing the bolt and dropping a dowel (cleaning rod) down the barrel and marking at the end of the barrel. Remove rod and measure.

    Anything that can be taken off, like screw on brakes/suppressors do NOT count in length. If they are welded or blind pinned on they do count.

    There is NOT a legal length for an AR-15 as it depends on what you are building. IF you are building an AR-15 Rifle it has to be 16" (see above). If you were building a pistol or an SBR AR-15 then the barrel can be any length you want.
