Winchester Question

Not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but anyway, I was going thru my fathers gun cabinet and came across a Winchester model 65, It said it was a 30 WCP of 30WCF caliber. Is this possible as I cannot find any in the Blue Book that say such a caliber. The gun is in 90-95% condition all original.

While at the barbers getting a haircut, I read a hunting magazine...Petersens Hunting magazine I believe and noticed that Winchester came out with its semi auto rifle with a adjustable stock available in the same calibers, but now included is the 325WSM...I checked the Winchester web page and see no mention of this...has anyone heard anything different or other information...I enjoy the semi autos FYI...Thanks.

What's the difference between a Winchester Trapper model and a Winchester 94 model?

Exactly how/why is the M-94 an improvement over the M-92. I kinda like the action of the 92 where the bottom of the receiver doesn't drop when the lever is used.

Can anyone tell me what year Winchester went from nickel steel to proof steel barrels on the Model 12?

Bert, Cartod, and the rest of you guys...Have a question on the dollar value of a "supposed" "original" Winchester framed Bullet Display. Found one advertised in a local paper for what I thought was out in left field....educate me cause it would look great in the office.

Model 94 AE S# 5283XXX / what does the AE stand for & about how old? Second- on the outer edge of the barrel aprx. from 1 to 2 o'clock if looking into the chamber from the primer end of the shell it has A chip out of the barrel. The chip is about 1/8 to 3/16 wide x 1/16 deep. ?? Don't know when or what caused this. Do you think this is or could be A problem in shooting this gun. I wwould take A picture & post but don't know how. If someone will email me I will send them A picture to look at instead of me trying to explain where & what the chip looks like. Any help??

I'm thinking about getting one of the new 9410 shotguns. I have no experience with lever action guns. Does it have a transfer bar safety, such as the new model Blackhawks,or any type of safety that makes it safe to leave the hammer down on a loaded chamber? Or do you need to leave the chamber empty like the old Blackhawk or Colt SAA? It doesn't say on the Winchester site.

In a Win. model 70, post 64, how many action lenghts are made? And what is the distance between the action screws for each lenght? I just bought a take off stock with very nice figure, and want to refinish, and use. Problem is it looks like it has been inletted for two different action lengths, and everything does not line up right, (action screws, and bolt handle notch). THX HAWKSHAW

In this auction, the seller mentions a star on the stock.

Did Winchester do this at the factory?

    Hello barnjoer,
I don't know a lot about the new 94's, but it sounds as if you are describing the notch in the barrel where the extractor sits when the bolt is closed. Open the action and look on the face of the bolt. I think you will find that the extractor on the bolt lines up with the notch in the barrel.

AE stands for "Angle eject". The empty shell is ejected at an angle. I think Winchester did this so you can mount a scope on top of the receiver. Standard 94's require a receiver side mount, which allows the empty shell to be ejected straight up.

taperloc / you are correct in both cases after A closer look & ejecting A spent shell. Never say A 3030 with angle eject before, so this through me. Never owned A 3030. My so is looking to make trade for this gun & wanted me to look at it for him. Any idea about how old this gun is??

    Hello barnjoer,
As I said, I don't know much about the post 1964 Winchesters.

I checked on of my books and it stated that angle eject became standard in 1982. There are probable more variations of post 1964 Winchester than there are recipes for chili.

What Winchester and later USRA were doing was to try to mass-produce "collector items". As far as I know, except for the safety, there was little to no difference to the rifle mechanism. They are not built like the old (pre-1964) Winchesters.

In good condition it would be worth about $140.00 - $150.00. Check GB auctions for post-64's and see what they are selling for.

I will be amazed it he can find one sold for less than $300 in these days of instant USRAC collectability. I would love one for $150!
