i just picked up my new - old 99 f savage in 308 cal , at my local gun shop, mind you, i live in a small town in central oregon of 10000 people , and almost all of the used firearms here, come from original owners. i have not checked the serial nums yet so i dont know exact mfg. date, but it does have a brass rotary clip, so to the little knowledge that i have , this should put it into the early sixtys.the lady that owned it had the stock shortened,2 1/2 in , put the extra piece in the closet , and had it reatached when she sold it , you gotta trust me here, the gun is awesome except for the buttstock, whoever did the work was good , but it has a cuuuuut mark,i love the ammount of woodwork and the metal in this gun, plus the awesome pistol grip, question is ,what should, or can i do , if anything to make this right, thanks, rusobr2 quote: quote:i find in life ,that it is better to understand, then to be understood

Or replace it with a used 99 butt stock.
