Firestorm Pistols

Any ideas out there on the quality of these firearms. Now I don't expect to buy a smith and wesson quality pistol for $250 but are they worth the money for an inexpensive compact pistol? As always thanks for your replies.

Has anyone heard of these? I saw them on the Bersa website.

Which model are you looking at? I have one, a FS22. It isn't very impressive. A plinker I'd rate lower in quality than the name brands of similar ilk. When I compare the Firestorm, which I paid $225 for, to a Buckmark, which came for $275, the Buckmark is the clear winner. I recently came by a Daewoo DP52 which makes the FS22 look like second rate junk.

I've gotten rid of the .380 that I owned too. Not the quality of Beretta or Sig. Their only real attribute is that they are cheap.

I'll have to disagree on the .380's. I have owned several over the years and each one has been 100% reliable. Yes for a little more $ you can get a nicer looking name brand, but for a night stand, truck, glove box gun, or even CCW that you mind getting banged up a little I think they are perfect.

Hmmm, completely contradictory answers. Perhaps a few others will chime in. I read a few magazine reviews of them & they tested out favorably, so who knows?

SUUUUCK, I might pay 50 bucks for one but would never consider it a weapon, just a plinker

I have the Firestorm 380 and it's just a higher class gun than the Bersa 380, Firestorm comes with finger grips and better sights. Never a problem with it and several friends use them for carry weapons. For the money I would rate it a 100% value.[:D][:p][:0][^] The Firestorm 22 has a few feeding problems and is picky on types of ammo it likes but not the 380.[^][:0]

Comparing them to a Sig or Beretta that costs 2 or 3 times as much doesn't mean anything. The Bersa and Firestorm pistols work well.

Regardless of what they cost, the comparison is valid. Using your logic, the Yugo was a great car. Besides, I didn't pay that much for my Sigs or Berettas, but even if I did it was money well spent.

You may like the Bersa. It so happens I don't. When I hold a FS22 in one hand and the Daewoo in another, there is simply no question as to which is the better made pistol. When I hold a Bersa Thunder in one hand and a Sig or Beretta in the other, the same holds true. In a head to head comparison the Bersa loses. However, I'm happy for you that you like them.

I have seen over a dozen of these. For the most part they are excellent utility sidearms. They are like the Mossberg 500, they are not fancy, they are not the best fitted or finished, but they work from what I have seen. They sometimes require a little bit of wearing in though. But I wont carry a pistol unless I shoot 500 rounds of FMJ and a 100 rounds of defense ammo through it.

And let me tell you.......when I had one. It worked fine. I eventually saved up enough to buy a Walther PPS, and got rid of it.

However, if you want an alternative that is battle proven....buy a Makarov.

My logic is valid. You do not compare a Mercedes with a Ford and say the Ford is junk because the fit and finish do not match the Mercedes. Both do their intended jobs, but the Ford does it at much lower cost. The Bersa and Firestorms do their intended jobs, at a lower cost than the Beretta or Sig.
