357 Maximum

Came across this in a auction and the guy said they are stamped 357 Max but they don't look like any 357 Max I have seen.

Here is his response:Sorry about the quality of my photos. These cartridges are definitely rimmed.

Using my cheap-o plastic caliper, the rim has a diameter of approx. 10mm and the remainder of the brass shell has a diameter of approx. 9.1mm

The shell has the following headstamp "R-P 357 REM MAX"

Recently I took a T/C Contender with a 357 Maximum bbl. on trade can any one tell me anything about this round? I do not have any info about it. The previous owner said it has ballistics close to a 44 mag. is this true? Was $380.00 a good deal for this gun 99 loaded shells and 36 empties, he also said the 36 empties are all this gun was shot. Thanks for any replies

    Thanks in advance

Looked for 357 Max. ammo on auction side, just a couple of boxes listed. Found some Grizzly elsewhere. Does anybody else still make it? Thanks.

The TC .357 Max is a great gun. My dad had one, unfortunatly when he sold it my cash was tight. Remember you can always shoot regular .357's and .38's in it too. Price sounds pretty good to me. I say BUY IT!!

My Speer #12 and Nosler #3 both have sections on the 357 Max.

The 1996 Handloaders Digest has a pretty extensive article on the .357 MAX and reloading for it.. Also My copy of cartridges of the world says some of the loadings for the Max are more powerful than the .44 mag.. Good luck

    The .357 Remington Maximum was made by Remington and Ruger together, indtroduced first in a Ruger blackhawk in 1983. Its a .357magnum extended 3/10" .357magnum cartridges can be fired from the same gun.It was designed primarily to be an ultra-velocity, flat-trajectory silhouette cartridge, and Dan Wesson makes some nice revolvers for it.Thru a 10 1/2" barrel125JHP 25gr W296 @ 1800fps140JHP 23.5gr W296 @ 1700fps158JHP 21gr W296 @ 1500fps180FMJ 18.4gr H4227 @ 1300fpsFactory 158JHP advertised @ 1825fpsFactory 180JHP advertised @ 1550fps
