Pre-ban Browning 9mm Hi -Power

Our ccw instructor said that my 13 shot 9mm had to be re-inspected and 10 round clips be used. If I sell this gun the new owner should hide the 13 rounders and have it inspected w/10 round clips? I thought this pistol would fall under the Grandfather clause. Anyone know legally what I have to do? Or if I sell? I want a buyer to be informed. Why buy hi-cap if they take your clips and stick you with 10's. Info please.

According to FEDERAL law, your gun and mags are completely legal to own or sell unless marked "For Law Enforcement Only".Even in Maryland, you can continue to own high capacity mags; you just can't bring them into the state.Tell us where you live; it's possible that you have some state or local law that he's talking about.Neal

USMC,Your profile says you're in Michigan; in which case it sounds like your "instuctor" is just plain wrong. ( Is "ccw"--concealed carry weapons?; in SC we call them CWP--concealed weapons permit.)Unless there was some type of requirement concerning magazines passed recently with your new permit laws?

I recently purchased a Browning BDM with a fifteen shot clip. I took it down to the sheriff's office as required for an inspection. They passed it around, commented what a nice piece it was, and handed it back to me.... with the fifteen shot clip in it. I also live in Michigan..02 worth

In our class the instuctor said our "pre-ban hi-cap pistols would have the clips taken when brougth in for the safety inspection here in Michigan. Since this guy sells guns we figured he knew what he was talking about. It sounded like B.S. He also did not encourage anyone to carry a gun for protection, yet he carried and was asked why. He said because he sold guns. I guess his life is worth more than others???
