Just bought a Ruger mini 14 in a 223.I need suggestions on what size scope to use on it. I will use it for coyotes and chucks. I have a Tasco 4x16x40mm,but the front of the scope touches the hand guard.

I have a Tasco 4x16 40mm on mine just like your scope and I got it to work perfectly by moving the scope foward a little bit as the barrel top tapers off. Mine has the ruger scope rings that came with it when I bought it. Yours might be different. It seems to be a good scope and is all you need on these.

soopershot, hope this gets to ya before you buy another scope. Put the factory rings back into the bag and send them back to RUGER. I sent my rings on a model 77 MKII and they gave me a taller set. I don't see why this wouldn't be true for the mini-14. I have been trying to get mine sighted in for a while now. If you reload, try a 60-65gr bullet and let me know how it does. I have found the 55gr to be decent, as the 45gr don't do well. 1:9 twist, I hope I can get it down to sub 1MOA at 100 at least.
