280 rem. ammo

i recently purchased a model 700 rem. mountain rifle. the owner gave me somne win. 280 rem. ammo 140 grain. before he found the ammo i bought some rem core lock 140 grain ammo. my question is which ammo would group better at 200 yds in this rifle! i also forgot that this weekend in missouri is deer season. i need to sight in and don't have time to play with the diff. brands thanks rick

    Trick is, there is no way to guess which ammo will group best in a given rifle. Ya just gotta shoot 'em. Another rilfe of the same make and model made on the same day might well do better with a cartridge that yours doesn't like. If you are pressed, you will have to pick one, and find out how it does so you know where the bullets will go when you are hunting. It would not be responsible to take it hunting with out ever having fired it at all.

    Agree with He Dog. Go with the 140 grain. It is sufficient for most all game you will be hunting.Boomer
