I am wanting to replace the standard rear sight on my 182 series Mini-14I have been told a Millett RM14001 peep sight or a surplus M1 carbine sight will fit as well.Has any one got any information about fitting these sights? Is any machining needed?

Well, I just learned something; and it may solve a long standing problem I've got. Years ago I acquired a new 181 series Mini-14 and it shot very high with the rear sight as low as it would go. I acquired the Millett replacement rear sight and it could be adjusted to zero, but the elevation on the sight was so high the sight looked peculiar. I acquired the Millett front sight and found myself back at square one--couldn't adjust it low enough. I never thought to try an M1 Carbine rear sight! Will do so in the near future!

I have heard before that M1 carbine sights will fit the Mini-14/30s. Does anyone know of a good source for such sights??
