Local pharmacy/sporting goods store has a NIB Remington 700 Classic in 300 Win. Mag for $389.00 Should I pick this up in the morning first thing? I dont really "need" a 300 however I think its a pretty good buy. Any opinions ?

gunnut,I think the best thing for you to do is probably just let me know where it is ... then forget about it ... I'll pick it up in the morning ... ...Sounds like a good price to me!

If you have the money, buy it! I wouldn't, because I'm leaning more towards handguns recently, but buy what you want!!!!

If you want it, go for it. Pretty rifle, and it is a good price. The .300 Win Mag was last made in 1995. Hmmm, NIB, maybe it was just never sold. What are you going to hunt with it? Best for open plains, big critters, faster than a locomotive, able to take down tall buildings in a single blast.-- It has a pretty stiff recoil, I guess I am just getting too old for that much recoil. Give me a 7X57mm anytime.Boomer

Yep its NIB, The found it when doing inventory along with a couple of other guns that are discounted heavly. They do not handle any used guns whatsoever. Usually I dont shop there as the prices are really high however I droped by to check out some scopes and happened upon them. BTW the Weaver Grandslams are Crystal Clear I think if they hold up they will give the Vari X III a run for its money!!

A Pharmacy/sporting goods store. That is a unique combo. That would give some fuel to the Anti's. "Sir here are your anti-depressants. Whats that you'd like to purchase that AR-15"?

Gunnut, here is a site for comparing optics prices with your local guys. I have bought several scopes from them. Good service, great prices: www.bearbasin.com

gunnut,Remington also made a "classic style" in 300 win with a birch stock and a dull matte blue finish; similar to the express shotgun. If it is the "cheaper classic" the deal is not as good. If it is the walnut wood stock with the high gloss bluing it is a steal. Good luck,

mbrook, I have the gun on hold via visa util I can pick it up tommorow as today was filled with meetings and "family pictures", anyway the rifle had a checkered stock that looked like walnut with model 700 classic on the side? looks just like the one on the rem. web site, however im not sure if it has the high gloss finish. how would I tell which one it is as I cannont find any info on the remington site about the "cheaper one"
