crack repaired

the acraglas did the trick for the crack inside the stock. i will drill a tiny hole at the end of the crack in the wrist. question: now that I am ready to bed the action, i've read that paste wax or car wax is a better release agent than what the acraglas stuff is. that true? i've placed electrical tape on the bottom of the action and will stuff all nooks and crannies with modeling clay. what am i forgetting? should I stuff clay in action screw holes?

just to be safe, i use the release agent followed with paste wax.
use waw on the action screws, before bedding, place masking tape along the barrel channel and anywhere you think glass can come in contact with the wood. do not tighten the action screws all the way but just snug. also, before doing this, stand the rifle up on its stock and just bump it slightly to allow the recoil lug to seat.
remember too, you can use household vineagar to wipe the uncured glass off. sounds like you have done a good job.
    hope this helps.

In areas that will permit it, I wax aluminum foil both sides and put it in between the part and the wood. If a screw hole, I wax the metal good around it. A little heat helps release wax.

Kiwi neutral shoe polish is the best release agent you'll ever need.
No need to use anything else with it, just apply it, let it dry, polish it a little
and slap it on top of the bedding..
Fill all the void with modeling clay and apply the polish over that too.... You will need screws in the action holes or you'll fill them up.. usually they are headless, and just give you a good alignment for setting the glas..... Clean up the excess before it completely hardens...

If you don't mind me saying so, the paste wax, and release agent stuff is really more than you need. I have started using the Hornady One Shot spray case lube. It has a wax base, unless they changed the formulation. It dries with a haze. I spray everything really well and forget it.

If I were you, I would put pillars in that wood stock, if it has a floor plate, and bottom metal. I use Brownells Steel bed to do this and for any bedding work I do.

The Hornady one shot is pretty thick when your looking for the best possible fit, even the spray on release agent from Brownells is on the thick side. Kiwi shoe polish is not....
Thanks for the kind words Richard [:)]

It's out of the stock and looking good. I had a few nervous moments when the action didn't pop right out. But it fits so well I had to lift it straight out. Have about a 1/16th of an inch of compound between the back tang and stock. took a long time to clean out the modeling clay in the action. got about 2" of compound in the barrel channel in front of the front lug. I am pleased. Now cleaning off excess that snuck between the masking tape. Will use vinegar as directed.

    Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. will try the hornaday one shot on my 10/22
