Insurance on your guns??

My home and cars are insured with Farmers Insurance. Once again, I received my homeowners policy and it did not include enough insurance for my guns. I have gotten a few more lately:) When I went to my agent, he suggested I get some insurance somewhere else, maybe privately. I did want $30,000 of insurance, but I do have one of my great, great, great, great grandfathers guns which is worth in excess of $10,000 by itself.

Anyone have any private insurance companies that they use (and like) just for their firearms?

Thanks
To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go out into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness, how cheap, how cowardly, how pathetic. Ted Nugent.

good question. I would like to see the answer also. I have about 100,000 dollars worth of guns and no insurance on them either[:0], just a couple of top of the line liberty safes. I would also like to see what it would cost.Guess I better get a will too[;)]. Oak

Any policy can have riders by other companies. I use Inland Marine for items not normally covered by an ordinary homeowners policy. Your agent should be able to add this type of coverage. If not, you need to find a better agent ! BT

Not an insurance agent. But I might would consider changing insurance companies because they should have offered you what is known as an umbrella policy on your homeowners. Call a different agent and see what they will sell you. You might even save some money.

Be careful because some insurance companies are anti-gun and if you inquire about covering guns, they just might drop your policy.

Trying to obtain replacement insurance would be more expensive since you were "dropped".

I've used 'Collectables Insurance Services, LLC' 1-888-837-9537, they're very reasonable and easy to work with. Thankfully I never had a claim but it was very easy to set-up, just send them a list of what you have including s/n and value and they'll send you a quote.

I currently have NRA ArmsCare Ins. and have been satisfied until I called the other day to check on prices to increase my coverage. In the course of the conversation, the agent advised that any firearm that is unscheduled or not listed on the policy would only be covered as one in 80% condition. Documentation and photos to prove their condition didn't seem to matter. As I am reluctant to let anyone know how many firearms I own, I have only listed a couple of the expensive ones that already have a paper trail.

I started looking around and found these people on one of the other gun boards, Collectibles Insurance Services (http://www.collectinsure.com/index.html). They were very helpful and advised only firearms over $5,000 need to be scheduled. They would look at documentation and photos to verify the condition of the unscheduled firearm and reimburse accordingly. The best part was the price. I will be able to increase my coverage by an addition $20,000 for only another $50 a year. My ArmsCare policy expires in a month or so. I am going to do a little more research on these people but I am already considering changing to them. Does anyone have info about them?

Hello I know that at least one insurance co. does do a rider policy on firearms State Farm It is a declared value. policy in other words you list firearms and the Value you want to insure each one at $2.00 per one hundred dollars . in other words you could value a mossberg model 500 at $10,000.00 and a colt Walker at $50.00. if you pay the premium. for that amount of coverage.
