Insurance on guns

I was in the insurance business for 22 years...been retired for 8 years now.
Every company I was licensed with would add firearms onto a policy for an additional charge. The guns would have to be insured at a set amount. HOWEVER, if a loss occurs the owner would have to provide proof of the guns value, ie an apprasial.
I advised my insureds to provide me with pictures to put into their file, in case of fire...which would probably destroy their documentation as well as the firearms. In insurance a picture is truely worth a thousand words.
All companies differ on the price they will charge to schedule guns onto your policy...check around.
