![hunter228](https://forums.gunbroker.com/applications/dashboard/design/images/defaulticon.png)
I came into an old falling block shotgun. The only markings on it, on the top of the barrel is XL Shotgun 38 cal OF Pat'd June 23. 1889. Any info on origin or market would be appreciated.

The 1887 catalog of H&A's distributor Merwin, Hulbert & Co lists the .38 CF @ $20 and shows a .38 cartridge with paper "bullet" filled with shot.
