hello
does anybody have any ideas on the colt cadet (22 target) version 6" barrel good bad or otherwise? how long did colt make it and are they accurate or just a good stainless plinker? what is there value today. i have a chance to buy one from a guy at work who bought it new and put a leupold 4X scope. he has 2 magazines.
what would be a good price and what would be a high price.
no box or paperwork but a strong 95% on the gun and 98% on the scope. he said he will give me a price on friday so i want to be ready with some input from you.
thanks for your time

I have had experience with the standard 4" model. Colt only made them for about 5/6 years in the 90's. There nice reliable guns, but do to their mechanism not target quality. Their stainless bull barrels and plastic frame make them quite muzzle heavy. I imagine the 6" with a Leupold, even more so. They pretty much dried up availably wise, the Target Model, as they weren't made in great numbers to begin with, and weren't competitive as true Target Guns. The last standard model I saw was at a show awhile back for $350/$400? Because of the Colt name and very limited production, the Target Model with a Leupold might have a asking price of $600. Although I believe you could obtain a much better, target quality Ruger or BuckMark for that kind of money.

Magazines aren't a problem. Beretta copied the mechanism for their U.S. made plinker .22, called the Neos. Even the magazines are interchangeable.

First off be SURE you want a 4X scope on a handgun IMHO this would be equal to a 20 power scope on a rifle you are trying to shoot off hand. A hand gun is capable of good groups but to hold up with 2 hands much less one hand and try to keep a full field of view with a 4X scope would be a nightmare 1X red dots are much better on target pistols and a 22 rimfire is not really a long range hunting pistol like a TC encore etc. I also think a Ruger or buckmark would be a better choice or an older HIGH STANDARD[^][:p]

    thanks perry and rufe
i was just wanting to add it to the collection but wanted ideas on it wether good or bad. i did not know the neos magazine interchanged with it though. as for shooting matches i normally shoot bullseye with my victor. lsp barrel with a red dot.
but sometimes push the button and goo to the original with sights and watch the people laugh because they think i had problems but truth is i shoot my best score with that factory barrel. the lsp is as accurate as the factory one but i think i just dont concentrate as much as i should with the red dot lsp barrel.
i have shoot the lsp barrel at one of the clubs 100 yard 22lr matches. they all used rifles while i used a 5.5" barrel handgun and came in 3rd not to bad for a handgun against bolt action 22lr target rifles.
