I have purchased two winchester 94 30-30's. On one of them, the hammer cocks back twice when I don't cock the lever, and then when I do cock the lever, the hammer strikes the firing pin. The other winchester is an AE 30-30 and the hammer does not cock back twice and when I cock the lever it looks as though the hammer does not strike the firing pin.
The AE model it supposed to be a 1990 model the the pther is a 1981 model.
Is this normal, or is there something wrong with the AE model?
I haven't been able to get out and test fire either.

This is the gun I mentioned in my other post. It's never been fired, still has the original oil/preservative on it from the factory. The box is worn from being moved around in the closet.

Can anyone date it by the serial and put a value on it?

    Thanks

I have a Winchester 94 in a .30-30. Accoring to the serial # it was manufactured in 1956. The bluing is all original and is excellent. The wood is near perfect with just some indentations from over the years, not scratches the finish is not wore off at all anywhwere on the wood.

How much is this rifle worth in value and what should I expect to get out of it from a dealer?

if the serial # is 4465776 the date on the post mark is 1977 witch would be close. Maybe $700 more on a good day
