How and why are trap guns different?

1) They usually have a rib with 2 beads; the user "stacks" the beads. This tilts the barrel slightly upward to better hit targets that are rising.
2) They usually have a monte carlo to raise your head on the stock; otherwise, the rear bead would obscure the front one.

Other than the fact that both disciplines use shotguns and clay targets, trap and skeet are drastically different. Nothing is as good for trap shooting as a dedicated trap gun, but it is essentially worthless for anything else. While a skeet gun can be made to work in trap shooting, if you try the reverse and use a trap gun for skeet, you'll have to hold under the target, otherwise you will be shooting over the top every time.
Having several choke tubes for a skeet unit is my preferred 1 shotgun set up.
