My guess is June, 1966. And that is based on:

According to Roger Rule's book, the first of the "new" model 70's was serialized #700,000 on Oct. 1, 1963. The first of the "G" prefix numbers was G1,028,977 on Aug 25, 1971. If a steady production is assumed (which is doubtful) for those 95 months, doing the math will suggest #815,131 was built in June of 1966.

That's not very scientific but I'm quite sure 1966 was at least the right year. Hope this helps.

Roger was off the mark with his numbers... specifically, the first "G" series rifles were made in the year 1968, and in the early 900,000 serial number range. Serial number 815131 was manufactured very late in the year 1965.
