Connecticut dealer?

I just spoke with a dealer in Ct. and he said the state told him that he can only purchase a gun from a Ct. Resident or an FFL and that if an out of state citizen tried to sell him a gun the state would not give him an authorization number. Anyone know if this is true.

for the most part any state can pass any law and it needs to be obeyed by anyone in that state . However it is NOT against BATFE rules for a dealer to purchase from an out of state seller the ffl dealer has to enter each and ever firearm in his book and the sellers name my dealers will want a copy of your driving LIC. or other ID so if later the gun is found to be stolen they will know where the person they got it from lived and they can give police that information

CT went brain dead with laws, just like NY did with the SAFE ACT, after the ACCUSED Sandyhook school shooting. The left leaning SCOTUS will not enforce the 2nd Amendment, when it comes to division of state and federal laws. The states, they view as being sovereign.

So yes, they can, and do, do things like that, and even out of staters have to abide by their bogus laws.

Spoke with another dealer who knew the law. A Ct dealer can buy a long gun from an out of state unlicensed seller but not a handgun. That would have to come through a dealer. It's hard to understand how they can even come up with some of these.

New York has had the same schtick for several years. Handgun may only be received from another dealer, or in person.
