1887 Winchester clones???

Back in the mid-ninties, I remember running on a short blurb in one of the more popular gun magazines about someone, either Norinco or Tri-star beginning out a copy of Winchester's lever action shotgun, the 1887. They also mentioned that they were also going to do the same with the 1897,..... which Norinco did. But what ever happened to the 1887? Does anyone know what I am talking about? (I did not imagine this guys!)

    IT WAS TRI-STAR AND THE GUNS WERE TO BE MADE IN TURKEY. NEVER HAPPENED. TO MUCH HAND LABOR. GUNS WERE GOING TO COST OVER $1000.00 MAYBE SOME DAY.

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.
